What does bandwidth mean at work? Bandwidth is the practical capacity a person, team, or organization has to take on more work — considering time, attention, energy, staffing, and priorities together.
It's more than just having a free hour on your calendar. Bandwidth accounts for your attention, your energy, your staffing, and what's already competing for priority — all at once.
In technical contexts — like IT, engineering, or networking — bandwidth can also mean network or connection capacity, like how much data a connection can carry. Context tells you which sense is meant.
For example: I do not have the bandwidth to review the full proposal today, but I can look at the summary tomorrow. That's bandwidth in its most common workplace form — personal capacity, named directly.
